- To be perfectly honest, I do not know how I will teach language. I believe it is up to what the students need from me as a teacher. As I said, I do not think students these days have the discipline to learn everything by heart and use EFL the way that I did back in the day.
Ideally, I would like to teach my students by immersing them in situations in which they have to know how to communicate their needs and desires. For example, I would set up a situation where students have to talk their way out of a prison cell. It would be set up like a game and their communication skills and quick wit would help them to escape from the prison by impersonating a guard, small talking their way out or just being very polite and asking everybody there to please let them out. I believe students study best when they are having fun. Especially 12-15 year-olds complain about the boredom they experience in class and I really believe that a game or some kind of fun and immersive activity would boost their confidence and motivation to come to class and learn the way they are used to learning; playing.
Yet, if another group of students would be more likely to succeed using EFL or other older methods of learning, I would happily teach them that way instead.
